A Downtown Detroit Wedding at the Historic Book Tower
There’s something effortlessly stylish about a Book Tower wedding in Downtown Detroit. Newly restored in 2023, its historic architecture, dramatic interiors, and vibrant city atmosphere creates the perfect backdrop for couples who want their wedding day to feel elevated, intentional, and uniquely personal.
Kourtney and Cory’s celebration captured that feeling beautifully.
Both self-made entrepreneurs, Kourtney founding Style House Consulting and Cory founding both Bronco Transportation Services and S4L Partners, with a love for thoughtful design and style, they envisioned a wedding that felt modern, minimal, and deeply personal. From the carefully curated details to the intentional structure of the day, every element reflected who they are and the life they’ve built together.
As a Detroit wedding photographer, this type of celebration is exactly what I love capturing. Thoughtful design at a historic venue blended with a couple full of meaningful intention behind their celebration; I couldn’t have asked to be anymore aligned with them.

An Intimate Downtown Detroit Wedding Focused on Connection
One of the most meaningful decisions Kourtney and Cory made was choosing not to have a traditional bridal party.
Instead, they structured their day so the focus remained on their connection, their families and the people closest to them. Without the formal structure of bridesmaids and groomsmen, the day felt relaxed, intentional, and deeply personal.
In turn, this allowed us to take our time with their portraits, as well as leave space for genuine moments throughout the celebration — quiet laughter between friends, heartfelt conversations, and the kind of candid interactions that make a wedding day truly unforgettable.
These authentic moments are always my favorite to document.

Cocktail Hour at Kamper’s Rooftop
Following their ceremony, guests made their way upstairs to cocktail hour at Kamper’s Rooftop, one of Book Tower‘s most iconic spaces. Overlooking the Detroit skyline, the rooftop offers a completely different atmosphere from the elegant interiors below — airy, vibrant, and full of city energy.
As guests stepped outside, they were greeted with sweeping views of downtown Detroit while enjoying cocktails and conversation. The rooftop setting created a relaxed moment in the evening where everyone could soak in the excitement of the day before transitioning into the reception.
From a photography perspective, Kamper’s Rooftop is also one of my favorite spots within Book Tower. The open sky and city backdrop make it a stunning location for candid moments and portraits that feel distinctly Detroit.

A Chic, Minimal Wedding Design
The design of the day embraced a refined, minimal aesthetic that felt perfectly suited to the elegance of Book Tower.
Soft clouds of baby’s breath, elegant white orchids and roses, and countless glowing candles created an atmosphere that was both understated and luxurious. Rather than overwhelming the space, the floral design by Spotted Fawn Designs complemented the atrium beautifully.
The glow of candlelight that grew as the night went out reflected off the interiors of the space, creating an ambiance that felt intimate, romantic, and effortless. The perfect balance of modern design and timeless elegance.

A Dream Vendor Team That Made the Day Seamless
Another standout part of the celebration was the incredible vendor team that came together to bring Kourtney and Cory’s vision to life.
From their planner Caitlin of Bunny & June Events, to video production by Gabe of Tenthirty Films and entertaiment by Casey of Rusch Entertainment, every vendor contributed to a seamless experience that allowed the couple to remain fully present throughout the day. When a vendor team works together with that level of collaboration and trust, it creates a wedding day that flows naturally and feels joyful for everyone involved.

A Surprise Performance To Add To The Fun
Kourtney surprised Cory with a live saxophone performance my Amy Decker, who joined the DJ Casey Rusch on the dance floor, instantly transforming the reception into an unforgettable celebration. The moment the saxophone entered the music mix, the entire room lit up with excitement.
Guests filled the dance floor and the energy carried throughout the rest of the night — a perfect reflection of Kourtney and Cory’s fun-loving personalities and their desire to create an experience their guests would never forget.

Why Book Tower Is One of My Favorite Detroit Wedding Venues
Photographing weddings at Book Tower in Downtown Detroit is always such a joy. The venue offers a beautiful blend of stunning architecture and modern elegance, while its location in the heart of the city brings an incredible energy to the entire wedding experience.
From the architectural textures just outside the building to the refined interiors that feel both grand and intimate, Book Tower offers endless opportunities for timeless, editorial-style imagery.
It’s also one of the venues I photograph most frequently as I’m honored to be included on Book Tower’s preferred vendor list. Being a familiar face in the space allows me to guide couples through the best portrait locations, lighting opportunities, and timeline flow so they can fully enjoy their wedding day while knowing their memories are being captured with intention.
Kourtney and Cory’s celebration was the perfect example of how a Downtown Detroit wedding at Book Tower can feel effortlessly stylish while still being deeply personal.
